Women, nations, and peace: What are the linkages? Join us for an exploration of how the security, status, and situation of women affects the security, stability, and prosperity of nation-states.

Valerie M. Hudson is the George H.W. Bush Chair in the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Hudson’s books the Hillary Doctrine: Sex and American Foreign Policy (with co-author Patricia Leidl), Sex and World Peace (with co-authors Bonnie Ballif-Spanvill, Mary Caprioli, and Chad F. Emmett), and Bare Branches: The Security Implications of Asia’s Surplus Male Population (with co-author Andrea M. den Boer) explore the insecurity of women and national security, gender violence, and the impact of unequal sex ratios. She is co-founder of the WomanSTATS Project, has received numerous teaching awards, and is a recipient of a National Science Foundation Research Grant. Her articles have appeared in International Security, Journal of Peace Research, Political Psychology, and Foreign Policy Analysis.
