This presentation examines the intra-American traffic in slaves, a traffic which brought captive Africans from British, Dutch, and Portuguese colonies in the Americas to Spanish colonies, among other places. This subject has received scant attention from scholars, especially in the period before the abolition of the slave trade. In addition, this presentation will introduce the new design and intra-American dataset for the Slave Voyages web site, at www.slavevoyages.org.
