La ecocritica, shengtai piping, tiNai—there are many terms used throughout the world to describe the complex and challenging relationships between human culture and the natural world. This presentation will offer a brief global tour of international varieties of ecocriticism ranging from Brazil to China and from France to India, along with an introduction to the field and its evolution in recent decades.
Scott Slovic is a professor of English at the University of Idaho. Slovic is the editor of ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature and Environment and author and editor of numerous books and articles, most recently Ecocritical Aesthetics: Language, Beauty, and the Environment.
