His Excellency Pisan Manawapat was appointed Thai ambassador to the U.S. in February of this year, previously having served as Thai ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, Luxembourg, India, and Canada. Manawapat also served at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and as deputy chief of mission in Tokyo throughout a distinguished diplomatic career. He attended Bangkok Christian College and Triam U-dom Suksa School in Bangkok. Winning a Foreign Ministry scholarship to read economics in UK, Manawapat graduated with a BS and an MS in economics with an emphasis on international trade from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also completed Thailand’s National Defence College. Manawapat and his wife Wanchana are the parents of one daughter.
