From Teresa de Cartagena and Christine de Pizan in the Middle Ages, through Mary Wollstonecraft and Anna Filosofova in the Age of Revolutions, up to contemporary Parisians and Berliners protesting the dearth of streets named after women, Europeans have historically been pace-setters in advancing the causes of women’s education, legal rights, and political influence. At this month’s Café CSE, professors from a range of disciplines will discuss the rise of European feminism and how Europe continues to lead out in promoting the recognition and empowerment of women.
