The act of moving through and interacting with a new environment, in search of certain elements, infers a physical movement which in turn generates intellectual thinking, both at the level of daily life and at an artistic level. This is a quest for an alternative definition of reality: pictorially, photographically, abstract and organic, and through the de-contextualization of our present reality.
Fernando Villena has exhibited his art internationally in solo exhibitions and group shows. Villena’s work is included in the collections of institutions such as the Coca Cola Foundation, Spain; the County Council of Bizkaia; Bilbao Arte; and diverse private collections. He received a fine arts degree from the University of the Basque Country, later training at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and receiving a master’s in professional painting at the University of the Basque Country.
