Levi Smylie is a political officer at the U.S. Embassy in Skopje, Macedonia. Smylie’s portfolio includes counterterrorism, ethnic Albanian political parties, migration, trafficking in persons, and religious freedom. Previously, he served in Washington, D.C., Guatemala, and Senegal. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Smylie practiced law in New York City for five years and received a BA in music (vocal performance) and a JD from the University of Utah. He speaks Spanish, Qeqchi, and French, and is currently studying Albanian. He and his wife Rebecca are the parents of six children.
