Chris Rains has been a Foreign Service officer with the Department of State since 2011. Rains is currently serving in Chengdu, China, where he covers human rights, religious freedom, and minority issues. Previous assignments include supporting law enforcement assistance programs in Guatemala, doing visa interviews in Brazil, and managing embassy operations in Yemen. His wife is also a diplomat. Rains received a BA in business management from the Marriott School and participated in the BYU Model UN program.
